5 months old! Again SUPER late

Vince turned 5 months old on the 17th, so I am pretty behind, but better late than never right?

He is growing so much, I can't believe my 8 pound 6 ounce little (okay that's not that little) is now an over 16 pound little ball of joy.

At his G.I. appointment he weighed 16 pounds 2 ounces and 28.5 inches long. I think we may have a basketball player on our hand ladies and gents!

Vincents favorite things to do so far are play with his snail, his sofie the giraffe and hold his Ollie book. He likes doing tummy time if you keep something in front of him to entertain him. He rolls from back to belly but not the other way just yet. You can tell he wants to sit so bad. He will lift his head up, I think within the next month he might just do it. You can tell that he starting to understand stuff around him a little more and I love looking at him and he is staring around at stuff.

As for clothes and diapers he wears mostly 3-6 and 6-9. If it is footed it is 6-9 just because of his length. And diaper is size 2 and a size 3, 12 hour diaper for night, because he pees a ton. I hate putting away his smaller clothes. I even wait a month or so after to put them away. I have donated some, but I plan on keeping a lot of them.

As far as eating he eats about 5.5 ounces every 3 hours. He is still doing good with the Neocate, but it is pretty thin so he eats a lot. I can't wait to add some real food in there to fill up his belly a little more. You can hear the water in the belly when he moves around.

I can't believe that in less than a month he will be 6 months old. Seriously where has the time gone!

He is such a blessing and can't imagine my world without him. Jacob and I couldn't be happier with this little guy!!

Our Trip to the Zoo!

It was relatively nice out on Sunday, so we decided that we were going to go to the zoo. Jacob and I had never been to the zoo here in Albuquerque, and Vince had never been to the zoo, so off we went.

We had been to the botanical gardens and aquarium before when Jacob's family came, so we were excited to see the zoo as well.

Vince took a little nap on our way there, which was nice because he then stayed awake for the actual zoo. When we got there we went straight to the exhibits. There were exhibits with fish, monkeys, snakes and even crocodiles. Which I had never seen such big crocodiles, these things were massive!! We were bummed that the lions were in there area and a lot of the animals were asleep. Jacob and I kept making little jokes that they must have taken their Benadryl  for their allergies and they were all asleep.

He looks cute with a purse right?

Jacob's weird shirt, it is a big inside joke with his friends. He was very excited that he  got to take this picture.

My favorite animals were of course the giraffes, monkeys and elephants. The elephants and giraffes all hung around the back of their exhibits so we didn't get that many great photo ops but we had a lot of fun.

"look mommy he even pee-peed in his sleep" - a 5 year to his mom

Next time we will pack a big lunch and blanket because there is a big grassy area where you can have a nice picnic and they allow you to bring your own food.

We faced the stroller seat outwards so Vince could look around and I think his favorite animal to look at was the seals. Probably because he got a really good view of them, and we were below their tank so we look straight into the water.

and just because I know we are all obsessed with chevron!

Vince Hates Sleep!!

So on top of all the other stuff going on, Vince's hatred of sleeping is getting worse and worse. He used to just fall asleep in my arms, and I know that is why we have the problem now, but for the past two months he won't even fall asleep in my arms without putting up a fight that is getting harder everyday.

He has slept through the whole night 3 times and that was because I had to let him cry in his crib while I sat in the rocking chair because he would not fall asleep in my arms. Normally he needs some pacifier re-inserts or sometimes to eat, which I don't mind at all. But the last week or so he won't go longer than an hour and when he wakes up, he is up with a vengeance. So he has been sleeping with me, which leaves me pretty tired the next day.

Now I know a lot of this could be from formula switch and I am going to wait for us to get all those kinks worked out before we try any sleep training.

Vince has never fallen asleep on his own, not even laying down on his blanket. Never during tummy time, only in the car or stroller. I have friends who's babies have fallen asleep in their jumperoos, but not this guy. He is always so alert and wants to know whats going on, but as for sleep he is just not a fan.

He takes 3-4 naps a day, each lasting 40-50 minutes. And as for bed we follow the same bedtime routine every night, starting at 6:45.

Now what has worked for you ladies. I have read The No Cry Sleep Solution and it didn't work for us. I also read Baby Wise but since I didn't start early I feel like if I started now it would almost the same as The Ferber Method. Also another tidbit of info, Vince doesn't have a soft quite cry. It is a scream, that's ear piercing, he starts to sweat so if we do choose to let him cry it out, it will have to be modified to insure he doesn't over heat, swallow so much air he needs to burp and so on.

Please help me out here. This is for naps as well as his night sleep and again I don't mind getting up if he needs his pacifier or to eat. I understand he is a baby and might need these things, but he needs to learn to be able to fall asleep on his own.

Thanks ladies!!!
